Australia - my favorite country!

Years ago I fell in love with this continent during a backpacking trip. Now it was time to visit the country with a motorhome. We drove from Brisbane to Sydney and even though we had the motorhome for 2 weeks, we were still almost out of time. There is so much to see and do. The first few nights we spent in a hotel because of the jet lag. We visited the Koala Lone Pine Sanctuary, an interesting zoo with Koalas, of course. It is also fun to walk through Brisbane along the river and South Bank Parkland.

We had rented a Sandpiper motorhome from Cruisin Motorhomes. This motorhome is perfect for 2 people, not too big and not too small. The fixed bed in the back is a big plus, it sleeps great! It is a little high though and via a step you clamber in. There is a toilet, shower and kitchenette on board. There is also plenty of storage space and a seat.

Natasja: The Sandpiper from Cruisin is a very nice 2-person camper, because in the back there is a fixed bed with a "normal" mattress. That sleeps great!

The campgrounds in Australia are usually top maintained. In the National Parks they are sometimes a bit basic, but there are always bbq's and toilets. In other areas there are no facilities. The campgrounds themselves are always beautiful in nature. We stayed at the Mungo Brush Campground in Myall Lakes National Park (visit the Dark Point sand dunes). We also stayed at the Pebbly Beach campground (Murramarang National Park), there the kangaroos hop around your camper and you can see them in large numbers on the beach.

An absolute must is the Lamington National Park. What a beautiful setting! Beautiful vegetation and wonderful views of the mountains and forests. You can go on beautiful hikes here.
Go wine tasting in Hunter Valley! Enjoy this beautiful region and the fine wines made here.

I recommend you to take the shortcut afterwards to the Blue Mountains. Gorgeous! The Blue Mountains are fantastic but also touristy. We hiked down to the valley and also hiked back up. A very nice hiking route and few tourists. Most people take a gondola or train for this.
In the evening it is very nice to eat something at Aunty Ed's, the restaurant is in the town of the Blue Mountains, in Katoomba. They have simple but good food there. It's a very nice atmosphere there, a little living room-like, very nice!

Natasja: Traveling through Australia is the most fun with a campervan. You have everything with you and you are in nature. Next time I will go by campervan again - and then from Sydney to Adelaide, to the south coast.
