West USA by motorhome

In October I made a motorhome trip along the West Coast of America and it really surprised me! What a beautiful and varied landscape with beautiful natural parks.
Starting point was Los Angeles for a few days on the coast and we returned the motorhome in San Francisco. After a few days recovering from the jet lag we picked up the motorhome at the depot, after an introduction video and tour of the motorhome we were on our way! A real house on wheels; what a space!

Marloes: "The country is set up for RVs and even these large vehicles are fine to take on the road."

First past Walmart; these supermarkets are huge and you can get everything you need here. Parking with a large RV in front of these supermarkets is also fine.

Then we drove to Joshua National Park, here are campgrounds in the middle of the park. You have come directly from the busy city of Los Angeles into a vast landscape with cacti, a nice contrast! The roads are good in America, it just takes some getting used to at first with a large RV. The next stop was at Lake Havasu, camping at the lake for a morning swim.

A highlight of the trip was a visit to the Grand Canyon, it is almost unreal when you are at the top of the canyon! After you park your RV in the parking lot you walk to the rim and look out over the beautiful canyon, even more beautiful in real life than you can imagine. There are several viewpoints and it is advisable to reserve a campsite in advance. Another highlight was visiting Bryce National Park, a very special landscape surrounded by rock formations. It can be very crowded in the park so there is a hop-on-hop-off bus going. After you put the RV in the parking lot you get on the bus past all the viewpoints.

Then we drove to Zion National Park, this is a larger area, very mountainous and green landscape. It is advisable to reserve the campsite in the park in advance, so you can do hikes that are indicated.

After visiting the beautiful natural parks, we drove to bizarre Las Vegas. Immerse yourself in the craziness of the city for 2 days; you'll be amazed! It is in the middle of a desert-like area and as soon as you leave the city you go through Death Valley. There it can be quite hot in the summer and sometimes even dangerous to get out of your car. Our last stop was Yosemite National Park, where you can spend days among the most beautiful mountains and lakes.

Because we were in October, it was a bit chilly at night, even below freezing. It is a wonderfully varied trip so be sure to take your time with this entire itinerary! If you have a little less time make a round trip to the same depot.
